Miracles in the Making - The Story of Debbie Miller

I hope that what you are seeing in the stories of these courageous cancer survivors and caregivers is that God is all powerful, all knowing, all present. He loves us so very much and he is still very much in the miracle making business - every single day!

Today it is my extreme pleasure to share Debbie Miller with you....

January of 2000 began a journey for me that only God could orchestrate. At the age of 42, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. For 20 years God has blessed me to survive through 3 separate diagnosis of cancer. I initially had a lumpectomy, 8 chemo treatments and 35 radiation treatments. By November 2000, I was finished with everything and begin 13 years of cancer free living. A new breast cancer was found in 2013. A mastectomy and reconstruction surgery followed. After 6 days in the hospital, I was released on Saturday and that night I began to have breathing problems. Sunday morning, I was readmitted to the hospital where tests revealed that I survived several pulmonary embolisms. Surviving the PEs was a miracle. A new doctor entered my life and treated the blood clot and monitored my lungs. Scans began to reveal fluid build-up on my lung. In 2016, the fluid was removed and tested positive for cancer. This breast cancer was now Stage 4 and had metastasized to my lung.

Since 2016, I have taken Ibrance and a monthly shot of Faslodex. As of today this regiment continues to delay the progression of the cancer. The doctor was monitoring my lungs so closely that the cancer was found early and it only involved the fluid outside of my lung-no tumor. This was my second miracle as I had no symptoms. These 20 years have been a blessing from God. God has been and continues to be gracious for allowing this journey to continue for me.

Because of these miracles, I have experienced many blessings. Being self employed, we continued to have increased insurance issues and increased premiums. We realized that we needed to be part of a group insurance policy so I completed and submitted an application to the State of Alabama. God provided a job within 2 months with great health insurance. How good is our God! He also provided strength and endurance to become vested with the State of Alabama which allowed me to retire and continue to have good, affordable health insurance.

While in our twenties, my mother in law purchased a cancer policy for us, which seemed odd that the time. This has been a blessing in providing for some expenses associated with treatments-another miracle.

During these 20 years, I have had the pleasure of seeing our sons grow into Godly men, marry and bring into our family two Godly daughters in law. We are enjoying two beautiful, fun granddaughters and expecting a grandson in March 2020. I also got to celebrate 42 years of marriage with David. God brought David into my life 46 years ago. We began dating in high school. We have also experienced the blessing of being cared for by our family, friends and church family. I am not sure how people survive without these special people in their lives. There are really so many more blessings that could be listed.

This journey and all of these blessings would have never been possible without my relationship with Jesus. When circumstances have been unstable, He has always and will always be stable in my life. So grateful for His Word and the promises it provides. Through all of life’s ups and downs, I always remind myself God is in control and He loves me. I pray this season of my life brings glory to God.
